Pianist Patricia Tao leads an active life as a performer, teacher and concert organizer. She has performed throughout North America and Europe as a soloist and as a founding member of the Guild Trio for ten years, and currently as a member of Trio Voce. As soloist, Patricia toured the United States for Columbia Artist’s Community Concerts series and as an “Artistic Ambassador” for the USIA. Dr. Tao’s live performances have been broadcast on National Public Radio’s Performance Today, WNYC’s Around New York, WQXR’s The Listening Room, the public television series Premiere Performances out of St. Louis, Chicago’s WFMT and Our Music on CBC.

She has commissioned and premiered numerous works, including William Bolcom’s Spring Trio, Sheila Silver’s To the Spirit Unconquered, Harvey Sollberger’s From Winter’s Frozen Stillness, and has recorded both solo and chamber music on the CRI, Arktos, Centaur, and Con Brio Recordings labels.

As concert organizer, Dr. Tao runs the Hear’s to Your Health Concerts held at the U of A medical school, and is artistic director of the Edmonton Chamber Music Society’s Summer Solstice Music Festival. Dr. Tao received her undergraduate education at Harvard University, a master’s degree with distinction from Indiana University and her doctorate from Stony Brook University in New York. She has given master classes at numerous schools in Canada, the U.S., Europe and China and is a frequent adjudicator in B.C. and Alberta. She has taught at the University of Virginia, Western Washington University and is presently Professor of Music at the University of Alberta, where she teaches piano and chamber music.

Robert Cohen made his concerto debut at the age of twelve at the Royal Festival Hall London and throughout the following forty years of his distinguished international career, has been hailed as one of the foremost cellists of our time. “It is easy to hear what the fuss is about, he plays like a God” (New York Stereo Review).

Invited to perform concertos world-wide by conductors Claudio Abbado, Kurt Masur, Riccardo Muti, and Sir Simon Rattle, Robert Cohen has also collaborated in chamber music with many renowned soloists and ensembles such as Yehudi Menuhin and the Amadeus String Quartet (including their CD of Schubert Quintet on DGG).

Robert Cohen made his recording debut at age 19 with the Elgar Cello Concerto and London Philharmonic (EMI), which earned a silver disc for sales of more than 1/4 million, since when he has recorded extensively for BIS, EMI, Deutsche Grammophon, Sony and under long term contract to Decca.

Cohen studied with William Pleeth, Jacqueline du Pré and Mistislav Rostropovich. Cohen became an inspirational teacher and has given masterclasses and lectures world-wide. He is a Professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London and Accademia Perosi, Biella, Italy.
